Nothing better than the official sites...
    http://www.w3schools.com/js/
    https://www.javascript.com/
    http://www.cbtnuggets.com/Python
    https://www.python.org/about/gettingstarted/

If you don't have any previous experience with programming then it's better to get one of those "? for dummies" books. Getting a head start just like that is impossible without experience or understanding of the basics. Programming and other computer related skills are like math if you don't keep up and practice all the time it (may) take a lot to get back due to the steep learning curve. Without smarts it will be difficult because there's lots of things to keep track in mind or it will take forever for you.

The best & efficient way to learn is to start with the basics and quickly move to the specific problems you want to tackle. You better learn and get to know the basics. Do tests to any extents. This will be vital later on even if they don't seem to be important. If you can't ensure that debugging later will be a lot more troublesome.
