Never seen Broadchurch so don't know anything about Jodie Whittaker.
So now Missy and the Doctor can share cake recipes! Laughing
Ok I'm done with the misogynism for the day.

I only read the sports and funnies and do the crossword and jumble these days. The rest I find to be pretty *MEH* as it's basically the same anti-Trump stuff, nobody in the MSM bothers to write any
pro-Trump since they all voted for Hilary anyways.

Speaking of sports:this will be the final season the Vikings will have training camp at Minnesota State University in Mankato as they're moving to their facility near the Twin Cities next year.

Yesterday I got some more comics:
    Amazing Spider-Man
    Captain America
    Fantastic Four
    Iron Man
    Avengers
One of the Captain America was issue #600.
I think now if I could go back and re-live my life I would probably be more into Marvel than DC.
The only exceptions being the Super and Bat books.

I also like the older stuff more than the newer from both companies.
And speaking of the newer, it looks like the HYDRA Captain America might be an impostor after all
has I read yesterday there was supposed to be another Steve Rogers that showed up mysteriously.

Captain America #600 was more of a magazine style issue with short stories instead of one
    continuous story.

When I talk about the older stuff I mean 1960-2000 or so.
I think both companies try too hard to be PC and Multicultural these days.

It's equally sad to see that the Left doesn't read or understand the Constitution and the Right
has no clear understanding of American History.
Actually the Democratic Party of the 19th century was even more Conservative than today's
    Republican Party.
Fiscally Dems like Jackson and Cleveland were to the right of Reagan and the Bushes.

OTOH: No matter how many wet dreams the Left has, neither Warren nor Clinton will be President
even if Trump were impeached, which is unlikely. The whole line of Succession thing.

Things like these are why I'm glad I'm not registered as belonging to any political party.

Had to walk to Safeway to pick up my medicine today. Then to Ben Franklin to look at some slippers.
Not a whole lot and either too small or half size too big. This happens when you have  odd size
feet like 10 and a half. The closes was size 11.
While I was there I looked around what they had of electronics. They had a few DVD players left.
Didn't have the money so just looked.

Also today looked up DVD discs cases again and saw they still had some available on Amazon.

Reading:The Fantastic Four:The Redemption of the Silver Surfer, lotta fun.
Interesting to note that when DC came up with their Cyborg Superman villain they basically
did a riff on the FF for the origin story.Even using an alliterative name: Hank Henshaw=
    Reed Richards!

So looks like I was right about the whole Jodie Whittaker thing on being the new Doctor Who
was a gimmick. Ratings have steadily plummeted since David Tennant left the series. So looks like
Peter Calpadi is being the scapegoat for what has been happening for the past several years.
Of course the fact that the writers and producers of the show have been more or less in the SJW/PC
category might have something to do with it.That and from what I read the episodes have been more and more complicated to follow.
Then again when the series was moved in America from SYFY to the less watched BBCAmerica, and you see why ratings went down on this side of the Pond.
    But that's just my opinion...

And speaking of Tennant, you can now hear him quaking it up as Unca Scrooge MacDuck on the new
version of Duck Tales on Disney XD. At least he didn't have to fake the accent this time around! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Soooo Berkeley has gotten to the point where they even disinvite Atheists like Professor Richard Dawkins!? We certainly do live in interesting times when someone like Dawkins gets a disinvite to one of the most left wing campuses in America. They said it was about his criticism of Islam, but then again he is a critic of all religion.
Berekely would cut off it's nose to spite its face kinda thing.

Agree. The move to BBCAmerica imho was the major factor for the dip.
    Laughing

Yeah, I also noticed a bunch of "news" from Berkeley recently. Many of my folks have ties here, too.
I don't think this will be the last of what we still call controversy today. <_<   >_>   >_<

Also whitehouse starting to read fan post... when does the real "show" start I wonder

Anyway, arstechnica has a nice article & pics about the NS Savannah
    https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/07/aboard-the-ns-savannah-americas-first-and-last-nuclear-merchant-ship/
Small in today's standard but I got to say they put quite some engineering into making it simple to control. Except for the few scribbles by actual engineers running it. Laughing  But the emergency / startup instructions and what you gotta do,  ingeniously simple an untrained person could do. Although, some technical understanding is required I guess. At least you gotta understand the instruction. Makes me wonder what if the oil crisis happened right then. Would we still have them today such that it's the standard. I doubt it due to cost, though.
The note about "~you can't just put a nuclear powered ship in reverse" is nice. Perhaps amusing for the laymen but yeah, it will be a bad day if you don't decouple the drive first etc... someone's gonna be six feet under if ignored.

The people at the rally applauded him and invited him back, obviously unaware they had just been had! Laughing

Sooo Squid Girl Season 2 is finally out. The only problem is right is to get it you have to order the complete series which includes Season 1. I wonder if Sentai will decide to bring out a separate
Season 2? It'd be nice for those of us who already have Season 1 but don't want to double dip
    for one reason or other.

Next Sunday Heroes and Icons network is doing a full day of Star Trek. The piece de resistance will be the airing of The Cage. This will be the second chance for people to see it if you didn't see it when it was on Svengooli on MEtv a couple months back.

Also they reran one of the best ever Star Trek episodes yesterday night, the Deep Space Nine episode In The Pale Moon Light. Garak is given a more sinister look again.

Truly one of the great underrated Sci Fi series of all time. While at least the Eagles were worth watching the show for. Plus Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. Also it was a spin off of UFO.
Gerry Anderson was doing Voyager before Voyager.

Also Maya(?) was a female Odo before there was Odo... Laughing Laughing

Ack...my bike now as a flat and I can't seem to fix it. Am going to have to see about getting help
    with it.
I was running an errand to church and on the way back I noticed it was getting bumpy.Sure enough when I touched the front tire it was flatter than anything. I tried to locate the source but I guess I must've missed it.

I think part of it has to do with the way the roads are here.

So...Ben Franklin is gone now and Burger King is coming in. Doesn't make much sense since this isn't
a large population center and we already have an McDonald's....

HBO has a show in the offing that is a alternate history view of what if the South won the Civil War and slavery was modernized. A lot of people on Tweeter overreacted without even bothering to

Irony is this is basically the far left eating its own since the show is created by the people behind

I guess I will have to get replacements for both my tires. Since Ben Franklin is moving out that makes things difficult.

Been doing some more composting earlier today before it got too hot. Still No See Em's are a problem.

The library finally got their AC fixed so the hours will be back to normal on Monday. This means I don't have to go down there so early.

MEtv had a list of crossovers yesterday but missed a few:

    1.Dragnet/Adam 12
2.Adam 12/Emergency this one is odd since in the episode Reed and Malloy have to
    escort someone to Rampart General so in it both series are treated as though they were real;
but later on in Emergency Adam 12 is treated like a fictional tv series because
    Gage becomes addicted to it.
3.The Gambler movies since they included the likes of Chuck Connors, Richard Boone and
James Garner all reprising their roles.
4.Bonanza/The Flintstones yes there was an episode where the cast of Bonanza
    parodied themselves on The Flintstones.

Can't help it water has become an issue everywhere in the world. The latest reports a week+ ago wasn't good at all.
Well, from what I see the weather is generally a bit more chaotic like the 10-20 years ago period when climate change became pronounced. Looks like a pattern of chaotic and calm periods. Something future generations have to figure out.

It seems to me the media attention is slightly more about military these days on a daily basis, or covers more military related news that wouldn't have made the cut before. Of course biased toward US/Russian/China/NKorea. I admit I've found "news" to me that where actually dated by years. It's not like I follow these things so it's not surprising. But since they are of technical nature I'm surprised they slipped by.

Well we have been into rationing since last week and since our house is even number we only can water Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday and a bit on Sunday.

We had our car taken in to have the brakes repaired yesterday. Since no-one drives now we have to think of selling it. Any way on the news yesterday evening there was a story about an accident where the owner of the car didn't have the brakes looked at...

My bike is also in the shop so walking until I get it back.

I sent in my order for Himouto! Umaru-chan Monday so that takes care of August.
Next month will be the biggie: Monster Musume. Very Happy

Once I finally get the rest of my dvds back in cases I will be able to know just how much space I have.
btw: Since Ben Franklin is going out of business it looks like to get electronics, etc. will mean a trip to Walmart in either Spokane of Sandpoint,Idaho from now on unless they have what I'm looking for

The ironic tragic thing about what happened in Charlottesville,Virginia over the weekend was the
fact that Gen. Lee himself would have been aghast at the bigotry and hatred coming from both sides.
He was a man who first and foremost wanted those under his tutelage to become true Christian
gentlemen and citizens;which means he wouldn't have favored either side doing what they did.
Then again after years of watching young men die he would have wanted a peaceful solution.

But the South haters will have their day.

DVDs and got Abbot and Costello: Who's On First which is a compilation of some of their
most popular sketches including the title one and Run Lola,Run which is the first non-English

Yeah, but the present is always shaped by people pursuing one way or the other. The enemy is not always the enemy. I've nothing against those historic/art statues but if people misused them for the worse and or are not ready or mature for them then they should be removed from view at least. Preferable stored until such times when citizens are mature and ready to face history.

There's no denying it anymore. Dark times are at hand. It's only a matter of time. And I'm afraid it got quite short. That said I won't let this drag me down and cowering in a corner or so.

    Oh my poor eyes! affraid

Well the whole hysteria began with the shooting in South Carolina, before that nobody much cared
one way or another about Confederate symbols or monuments except for a few on the fringes.
I've always thought the best way to fight the misrepresentation of the South by racist groups
was to reclaim those symbols for all of America; in order to remind people that they belong not
just to the South but to all of us, whether or not we like it.

Also I think we tend to forget that racism and slavery aren't limited to geography and time, they're
an ever present problem that we as humans all have part of, again whether or not we would like to admit it. The North is as guilty as the South, and New England most of all since the slave ships
were made in New England shipyards and sailed from New England ports.
Lot of New England families made money off of the slave trade.

So looks like the book sale for Friends of the Library will be held at our church this year.
At least I don't have to worry about crossing the street this time. Very Happy

hmmm....so they're attacking monuments to Lincoln now, including the Lincoln Memorial which got

Looks like a lot of our future leaders are going to be either home schooled or come from parochial

The eclipse is about over now. Seen parts of it at the library and on the way home and when I got

    Though a bit cooler.
At least it wasn't cloudy or raining.

Well it was an interesting astronomical phenomena but not all that life changing. I really don't get
why so many people were so gaga about the eclipse. To me seeing a wild animal like a deer is much more thrilling and even in a way mystical experience than seeing an eclipse.

Got some more comics today. When I was paying the guy at the second hand store where I get my comics talked about a group of kids who came in and started to take some of the books out of the

Not only is that damaging the books but it is also simply rude to the next person who may want to actually buy them.
Any ways got some more Spidey, Avengers, West Coast Avengers also She Hulk,Spider-Woman
Iron Man and a double What If?
Have to go through and see what all I got so Friday I can give a more complete report.

    Was about time.

The sinking of the Nautilus turns out to be (as suspected) a means to hide a crime.

Now that what's left of her body was found, it's all too certain. A test drive from 6pm to 10/11 am the next morning was highly suspicious to begin with. I guess it's pretty clear what happened. It's just sad this obviously world famous DIY sub got its death sentence. I doubt it will ever be used again.

    Dark Matter season 3
Again it ends with some future points to loo for. Heard nothing about a 4th season. In any case the way the many overall story points go it's very similar to Andromeda Ascendant.

I'm switching over to the (lost) Last Ship.
Tbh like Zipang a sole destroyer is nowhere near self sufficient nor has enough resources to last more than a week or two without at least fuel supplies. The navy refuels thousands of times a year for less than 300 ships with 2/3 in port all the time. Even a cruiser won't do. Perhaps a nuclear cruiser would do but the old ones probably have less space in exchange for storage. *shrugs*

    So tired today so...

Looks like the storm in TX wasn't so bad for the most part. Certainly there's a lot of flooding as usual. Well, at least my folks there are alright.

Hm so there is actual talk about nuclear ships coming back soon due to oil prices. I dunno. New subs are coming that's already set in stone but surface ships. I think the competition between energy and nuclear energy isn't over yet to be certain about it. Any classic navy advertisement:
