I got the demo on Xbox Live but haven't had a chance to play it yet.

What do you think of the voice command system that's been promoted so much?

It makes things interesting you can command your units to do almost any thing you would want them to do on the game a example of a command would be : unit 1 attack hostile 1 or unit 3 secure foxtrot. I am still learning the commands for the units though. If you have time I would suggest giving it a try because it is a fun game specially with voice command though it can be annoying because if you don't speak the command right or loud enough it will tell you the command was invalid or unrecognized or something like that.

    "Nuke enemy headquarters"

    There's a catchphrase. Very Happy

I'll see if I can get some time over the weekend to try it out, don't think I'll be able to tomorrow.
Glad to hear a positive review of it though.

I don't know the order for using the wmd on a target but when I play the game again I will get the command and then I will post the command up for you.

I haven't played anything from Tom's yet, and since I often heard they aren't that good, I never got around to try.
Yeah, voice command sounds nice but it's all chatter. Laughing

You can also use the mouse instead of just voice command.

Played the EndWar demo off Live...

Actually with the voice commands I was fairly impressed, I've long awaited a voice command system (since 1998 actually) that got the command right on the first try.

Really I see it as being more useful if UbiSoft would license the voice command system out to other developers. Then we could have space sims with proper voice command and so on.

Only disappointing things were a lack of a grouping function, and no "all units" selection - which I think I saw that in the retail screens they were showing. Was sort of a pain to have to tell 12 different units of attackers what one target to shoot. Plot didn't seem all that revolutionary either.

I think the VA for the General is probably Steven J Blum, who did Spike on Cowboy Bebop.

There is a voice command for all units "calling all units" is what it is listed as for the game. I think it is the same for the xbox not sure since i don't own one but on PC it is as I listed above. So you can try that if you like they just might not have the full range of voice commands available on the demo version though.

Yeah I think it was just limited in the demo.

Hmm, it is similar to World in Conflict, but is more like a game. WiC is like a realistic simulator, much more pacing and difficult.
WiC forces you to take risks in order to win. After, the first mission you will always be forced to divide forces and rush, and be rushed. A lot of micromanagement despite having all the control mechanism.

That'd be the difference between "arcade" style and "simulation" in a nutshell.

I'm kinda interested in SW Empire at War and Supreme Commander.
I probably won't buy them, but my new laptop I've got coming in would be able to
run them without a lot of trouble.

Both of those games are good specially if you download the mod for SW empire at war. Where there is no unit cap so you can have MASSIVE fleet and army battles all across the planets on the game. As for Supreme commander that is a great game as well. I also have the continuation of it called forged alliance. All three is really good if you want to buy them.

    Well I've got two problems.

    1. I'm looking at having to go bankrupt within the next month.
Times are too tough to make an income to pay the bills, so I don't
    have a "games budget."

    2. Time... related to 1 trying to find a job and everything else.
